Words to know in 3rd Grade! Power Words Words to know in 3rd Grade!

Identify When you identify something you recognize something as being a particular person or thing.

Identify It was easy to identify Tom because he was so tall. Can you identify the brown haired students in this classroom?

Describe When you describe something or someone, you tell all about it giving lots of details.

Describe Can you describe something in this picture? How would you describe a character in a story?

Conclude When you conclude, you think about something and then make a decision about it or make up your mind about something.

When you give evidence about something, you give proof.

Evidence What evidence is there that dinosaurs existed? What evidence was there that Ruby was a copycat?

To locate is to find the place or position of someone or something.

Observe To observe is to watch and sometimes listen to something or someone carefully.

Cite To cite is to write or say the words of a book, author, story or passage.
