rTMS is a noninvasive, brain-stimulation outpatient treatment for moderate-to-severe depression. 56% The response rate is about 56% in open label trials. The results are comparable to antidepressants. There are very few side effects of TMS, mostly pain where the magnet is stimulating. Side effects are tolerable. 

More insurance companies in the United States are covering TMS.  A lot of research regarding TMS is continuing.
