What is a wildfire? A fire that burns uncontrollably in a natural setting (forest, grassland, mountain, etc.).
Wildfire Causes Three basic elements are needed for a fire to occur: A heat source Oxygen Fuel (something to burn) Most natural fires are caused by lightning, but humans also cause fires by smoking, fireworks and poor camping procedures.
Effects of Wildfires People lose their homes Animals are killed and also lose their vegetation. Wildfires affect the air quality, the wind and heat. Destruction from wildfires can damage an ecosystem for years, making it difficult for new plants to grow.
