What economic and military factors led the American government to pursue imperialist policies? Explain why these factors were so important for the United States at this time. Be sure to identify important figures who argued for certain policies. How did ideas of national superiority impact American imperialism? Be sure to explain both major ideological (relating to ideas) movements of the time and identify important figures who influenced these movements. How did the United States gain control of Hawaii (tell the story)? Why did the United States get involved? Who were the major individuals in the story and what was their role?
