Definition. A main idea is important information that tells more about the overall idea of a paragraph or section of a text.

Example. A Article about saving the Rain Forest. The main idea is about the Rain Forest.

In lacrosse the rule is that you can't touch the ball with your hands. You catch the ball in a net on the end of a stick and use the stick to throw the ball.
