Looking at Rubber Band Energy

Think about this… How have we been moving the car? How can we use the rubber band to move the car?

Today’s task Your materials are in your bucket. You will also need a red, blue, and green marker/colored pencil/crayon. Read the direction sheet to complete the task of testing rubber band energy.

When you are finished, bring the strip of paper up to me so I can hang it up. Put your materials back in your bucket and sit with your group.

Think about this… Do you see any differences or patterns with the data for the strips? Where does the energy to wind the rubber band come from? Where does the energy to move the vehicle come from? How does the number of turns on the rubber band affect the distance the vehicle travels?
