Revolutionary War Essay Eighth Grade Social Studies

Opening Paragraph Opening Paragraph must contain a thesis statement, which is a clear sentence explaining the purpose of the paper (what you’ll prove). Example: The Revolutionary War, which was fought between 1775 and 1781, proved to be a tremendous challenge for the colonies. The British government, under the reign of King George, had taxed the colonies relentlessly. As a result, the colonists were forced to fight for their independence and freedom by any means necessary.

Supporting Paragraphs Each supporting paragraph should be 4-6 sentences in length. Try to use examples from the movie to support your main points, or notes from class. Example of supporting paragraphs: The colonists wouldn’t have won the war without the support of the French The leadership of George Washington The effectiveness of the militia The sheer determination of the colonists (“will to win”)
