LESSON 5 ELECTRIC IN THE AIR

What is electricity Electricity - a physical occurrence caused by the movement of electrons Lightning is a form of electricity If electrons need to be defined: they are extremely tiny negatively charged particles in atoms. They can travel from atom to atom in a current hence electrical conductivity. Electricity is a natural occurence ex: lightning, static electricity. possible example of joy buzzer.

how do we generate electricity? Using an electrical generator. electrical generators work by using the movement of a magnet to move a electrical current in wire How we use this: hydro electric plants. Water spins a turbine that provides the magnet motion for the electrical generator.

How do we use electricity We can utilize electricity by channeling an electrical current in a circuit a circuit is an arrangement of electronic elements, including conductors through which electric current moves. example of a simple circuit circuits can be as simple as the one seen or as amazingly intricate as computer chips. Circuits are used in pretty much every use of electricity in our lives.

Storing electrical energy Batteries: devices that can store electrical energy by converting it to chemical energy Batteries use elements to store electricity then release it in a reaction. The way batteries are charged is by forcing a reverse reaction. Batteries eventually become less able to hold “charge” aftrer prolong use.

uses of electricity conversion to light conversion to motion conversion to sound Light bulbs use electricity to form light from electricity. Electric motors use the same concept as generators but in reverse. Speakers also convert electrical energy to kinetic and then to sound through the movement of the speaker.
