Christian Service: Freshmen Jesuit High School

Mission & Identity Today our prime educational objective must be to form men and women for others; men and women who will live not for themselves but for God and Christ . . . Men and women who cannot even conceive of love of God which does not include love for the least of their neighbors; men and women completely convinced that love of God which does not issue in justice for others is a farce. --Pedro Arrupe, SJ, former Superior General of the Society of Jesus

Minimum Requirements 16 hours of service 6 hours of “core service” 4 hours per quarter

Core Service Service with people experiencing homelessness, hunger, or poverty Service with children in need Service with people who are developmentally and/or physically disabled Service with the elderly

Yearly Expectations Sophomore 16 hours 8 core One semester Junior All core All one placement One semester Senior 50 hours All core All one placement One semester

Non-qualifying Types of Service Helping or caring for family members Volunteering at your old school Liturgical involvement (altar serving, choir, lectoring)
