Fort Sumter Victor (Winner) Confederate First Battle of Civil War False hopes for a quick war

Gettysburg, PA Victor- Union Turning point of the war. After trying to break the Union lines for two days a frontal assault on the Union fails. Lee retreats back to Virginia.

Atlanta Campaign Victor- Union The siege of Atlanta by General Sherman ended with the burning of the city. Made famous in the book “Gone with the Wind” Sherman began his famous march to the sea after this.

Sherman’s March to the Sea General Sherman marched his troops across Georgia destroying nearly everything in their path. From Atlanta to Savannah
