Step by Step Writing Make up an e-mail address. We’ll write it on the “from” line. Make up an e-mail address for the person getting the message. It goes on the “to” line. Tell the main idea of the message. We’ll write this on the “subject” line. How do we write the greeting? What kind of letter begins a person’s name? What is the message? We will indent the first word like this. How do we write the closing? Remember to sign your name. Let’s read the e-mail together.
