Fifth Grade Exhibition Day 1 Brainstorming Session January 2017

Students will brainstorm possible topics for the Fifth Grade IB/PYP Exhibition. As a grade level, you will determine a central idea and inquiries into. As teams, you will create a product that will reflect your knowledge of the topic. As a grade level, you will determine what action can be taken.

Exhibition Introduction – you must be able to answer each of these questions. What is our purpose? What resources will we use? What do we want to learn? How will we best learn? How will we know what we have learned? To what extent did we achieve our purpose? How will we take action?

Transdisciplinary Skills Social Skills – accepting responsibility, respecting others, cooperating, resolving conflict, group decision making adopting a variety of group roles Research Skills – formulating questions, observing, planning, collecting data, recording data, organizing data, interpreting data, presenting research findings

Transdisciplinary Skills, cont. Thinking Skills – acquisition of knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, dialectical thought (more than one point of view), (analyzing your thought process and the thought process of others)

Transdisciplinary Skills, cont. Communication Skills – listening, speaking, reading, writing, verbal communication (speaking) Self-management Skills – gross motor skills, fine motor skills, spatial awareness, organization, time management, safety, healthy lifestyle, codes of behavior, informed choices
