So, here is a typical asset, with it’s components. The diagram illustrates the CIM package (…list them…) that contains the classes used. Asset Health Information Modeling in the CIM Sample Instance Diagram with Packages 61970 61968 The AHFC is a collection of folks that are both CIM-savvy and not, so as a way to get started that was a bit more familiar territory than some of the esoteric CIM modeling “stuff”, we focused on a common procedure and result: DGA analysis of transformer tank oil. We did a survey and got a good feel for the typical information that is provided as a result. Which is good information which we can provide to the WG13/14 technical team. Asset Procedures, Results

DGA results relate typically to transformer tank oil. But should our interoperability model be associating those results with the transformer, the tank or the oil? And what about the difference between 3-tank and 1-tank transformers? How do those play in what you tack a DGA test result to? So, it seemed that clarifying the core part of the CIM model – the asset identify and component part (with some consideration of the nameplate, model and manufacturer part) was probably a really good piece of work to start on. ?
