The Excretory System Standard: Explain the purpose of the major organ systems in the human body

The excretory system is unique because? It includes other body (organ) systems: Digestive system Respiratory system Skin (Integumentary system) Urinary system

The digestive system takes in food and liquid and removes excess water and waste from food out. The skin releases salt and excess water.

The respiratory system takes in oxygen and releases carbon dioxide and water. The urinary system takes in water and salts and releases excess water, metabolic waste, and salts

All of these body systems function together as a part of your excretory system, to eliminate waste.

Why is waste removal important? If wastes aren’t eliminated, toxic substances build up and damage organs. If not corrected, serious illness or death occurs.
