Histopathologic description: The section reveals a segment of artery with mild intimal thickening (area between the 2 arrows). Centrally, the intima is much thicker, consisting of smooth muscle cells, collagen, and ground substance. Underlying this area, there is disruption of the internal elastic lamina (arrowhead).
