The Decision Making Process Step 1: State the Situation What is the problem? How did the problem occur? Who is involved? How much time do I have to make my decision?

The Decision Making Process Step 2: List the Options How could I solve the problem? What are the choices? With whom can I talk about the problem?

The Decision Making Process Step 3: Weigh the Possible Outcomes What are the consequences of each option? How will my choice effect me both now and in the future? Who else will my choice effect and how?

The Decision Making Process Consider Your Values How does each of my options fit in with my value system? How will my values influence my decision?

Using H.E.L.P. The H. E. L. P. Criteria H (Healthful) might this lead to injury E (Ethical) is it right to do this? Does it show respect? L (Legal) does doing this break any laws? P (Parent approved) Would my parents approve of me doing this?

The Decision Making Process Make a Decision and Act What choice shall I make? What do I need to do to follow through on my decision?
