Global citizenship Global Citizenship is a state of mind. To be a global citizen you must: Appreciate that the countries of the world and their people are all interconnected Understand that poverty, pollution, epidemics, natural disasters, and terrorism require international cooperation to solve Be aware of, and care about, problems and people – locally AND globally Respect diversity and the human rights of all peoples View events from the perspective of other peoples and countries Realize that Canada is not the center of the universe TAKE ACTION TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE

Canadian international development agency Part of the federal government’s international relations plan Distributes $3 Billion a year in aid and loans to foreign countries Typically donated to – Africa, Asia, Middle East, South and Central America Either given DIRECTLY or through NGOs (explained in a second) Has funded projects in over 150 countries
