APUSH U.S. History Civil War

Crisis, Civil War and Reconstruction (1848-1877) The learner will analyze the issues that led to the Civil War, the effects of the war, and the impact of Reconstruction on the nation.

Station ONE Describe the key parts of the Compromise of 1850. How did the agreement lead to the Civil War?

Station TWO Describe the Kansas-Nebraska Act (remember to include the idea of popular sovereignty) How did this lead to the Civil War?

Station THREE Explain why the Dred Scott ruling upset people in the North. Why did it please the South? How did this decision lead to the Civil War?

Station FOUR Why was Fort Sumter important?

Station FIVE Outline the THREE main parts of the Union’s Anaconda Plan.

Station SIX Why did Lincoln issue the Emancipation Proclamation? How did it change the Civil War?

Station SEVEN What was Lee’s goal by invading Pennsylvania? Why is Gettysburg a “turning point” in the Civil War?

Station EIGHT How did the 13th Amendment change the nation? What was the purpose of the 14th Amendment?

Station NINE What was the purpose of the 15th Amendment? How did white Southern governments undermine this purpose during and following Reconstruction?

Station TEN Compare and Contrast Presidential Reconstruction with Congressional (Radical) Reconstruction. (Use Lincoln’s ten percent plan in your answer.)

Station ELEVEN What was the purpose of the Civil Rights Act of 1866?

Station Twelve What was the Compromise of 1877? What impact did this decision have on Black Americans in the South?
