UNFCCC ROE: history In 1999 three UNFCCC rosters of experts were unified. One, more comprehensive, roster was formed in order to: Include more areas of expertise and new tasks (e.g. GHG inventory review) Up-date information and eliminate duplications Enable a nominee to be used for multiple assignments Reduce the cost of maintaining multiple databases SBSTA requested Parties to nominate/up-date the information about their experts 26 May 2019
Who can apply? National experts from GO,NGO, private with: Scientific and technical expertise relevant to the field of expertise identified in the application form Knowledge about certain specific regions or countries, related climate change activities in their organizations Qualifications, at least 5 years of relevant experience Having publications, participating in scientific and technical committees (Desirable) 26 May 2019
Who and how to nominate WHO: National Climate Change Focal Points Roster custodians designated by National Climate Change Focal Points How: Expert completes the roster form and gets endorsement/signature of NFP before submitting to the secretariat and sends it to the secretariat. OR NFP requests password (roster@unfccc.int) that enables him/her to nominate and update expert information online. OR NFP informs the secretariat of a designated custodian who can then request a password and proceed as above Note: No applications without endorsement All nomination forms must be accompanied by a C.V. 26 May 2019
Operation and conditions Assisting the secretariat by fulfilling specific tasks Specific assessments requested by the SBSTA and SBI, including preparing reports, participation in the workshops, expert meetings Funding provided for eligible Parties No honorariums or fees 26 May 2019
Recent statistic Total number of experts: 895 Number of new/ updated experts: 406 from 75 Parties Number of experts in the database but not updated: 489 from 69 Parties No of Parties who have direct online access (roster custodians): 31 Number of countries which have not nominated experts: more than 50 26 May 2019
