Enlightenment Debate 2016 In groups of 4, you will research and present an Enlightenment thinker. One of you will be The Thinker. It is your job to play the role of the thinker, and take part in the debate. You will answer questions posed by the moderator (me!) One of you will be The Researcher. It is your job to scan through the primary and secondary source documents I provided, to determine what is useful and which group member should read it. One of you will be The Scribe. It is your job to listen carefully to your group members and take notes on their most important points. The Thinker will be relying on your note cards during the debate, so make sure that you write clearly and concisely! One of you will be The Fearless Leader. It is your job to keep everyone on track, and to direct the work of the entire group. Everyone needs to listen to you and follow your orders. But remember, with great power… comes great responsibility…

Enlightenment Debate 2016 How to Prepare… Complete your research, looking for information that relates to the debate topics. Think of your own questions for each of the debate topics. There’s a good chance you’ll guess one that I’m going to ask! Take notes on how you’d answer those questions. Practice role playing The Moderator vs The Thinker! Write a 60-second opening statement. You will need to introduce yourself and your ideas! In groups of 4, you will research and present an Enlightenment thinker. One of you will be The Thinker.
