Scientific Question In what conditions will the glow sticks glow last the longest?

Background I chose this topic because I was curious if the environment that a glowstick is left in determines how long it’s glow lasts. The background i have on this topic is that i have put glow sticks in the freezer before. I did this because I was told by people that this would make the glow last longer.

Hypothesis If I test what conditions will make the glow in glowsticks last the longest then the glow will last longer in a colder environment.

Variables Independent Variable: Environments tested Dependent Variable: Glow in glow sticks Constant: Size, shape, color of glow sticks Controls: 1) Temperature of environment 2) Chosen environment 3) Number of environments tested

Procedure Gather materials and record hypothesis Put one of each color glow stick into each environment Check and record data every 24 hours Optional- If the glow runs out within 24 hours test again checking more often Record data and share results *Glow Sticks must be the same size, shape, and color

Materials Glowsticks Three types of environments (Near Heater, Freezer,In Room Temperature) Datachart Timmer

Data Near Heating Source 1 Day (24 hours) Room Temperature 2 Days (48 hours) Freezer 4 Days (96 hours)

Conclusion After testing the environments I discovered that glowsticks last longer in a colder environment. When I was doing this experiment I did have some errors. These errors include having people opening the freezer. This caused some of the cold air to be released. What I would do differently is testing if the amount of light effects the glow.
