1. What was Reconstruction? 2. Why was the South in much worse shape than the North after the war? 3. How long did Reconstruction last? 4. What was the physical toll on the South?

5. What was the human toll? 6. What 3 groups of people made up the South and what hardships did each face? 7. What was Lincoln’s plan for the South after the war? 8. Who were the Radical Republicans and why didn’t they like Lincoln’s plan?

9. Describe Andrew Johnson. 10. What did freedom of movement allow freed slaves to do? 11. Why did freed slaves say southern land should be redistributed? Was it? 12. What kinds of black organizations arose? Why?
