Meeting The Challenge Colossians 2:8-10

The Warning “Spoil.” Word variously translated as “cheat”, “beguile”, “rob”, “take you captive”, “seduce” Understanding should be that the believer’s faith is the prize Not merely to produce damage To capture through renouncing faith and following the captor

Weapons of conquest Philosophy Not a blanket condemnation of philosophy (re. 2:3) Only that which is false (1 Cor. 1:17-21; 1 Tim. 6:20) The kind that is… …according to the tradition of men (Matt. 15:6, 9) …according to the basic principles of the world (Col. 2:20-22) …not according to Christ (Eph. 4:20)

Empty deceit (2 Peter 2:1-3, 17-23) Today we have… The philosophies of atheism, humanism, evolution, etc. The chaos of denominationalism, cults, paganism, idolatry, etc.

In Christ is The Solution This is where man finds true fulfillment and happiness Freedom (Gal. 2:4) No condemnation (Rom. 8:1) All spiritual blessings (Eph. 1:3) Wisdom (1 Cor. 4:10) Hope (1 Cor. 15:19) Salvation (2 Tim. 2:10) Paul tells how one gets in Christ (Gal. 3:26-28)

Can We Meet The Challenge? Many things pull at us (Eph. 4:14) Let us be equipped for the battle (Eph. 6:10-17) God is for us (Rom. 8:31) Victory is ours for the taking (1 Jn. 5:4)
