Saturated and Unsaturated Solutions

Unsaturated Solution More solute could dissolve at the same temperature. More solvent particles are available to dissolve solute. We can still add more solute to the solvent and it will dissolve Example: We can have dissolve 10grams of sugar in 100 grams of water and we only add 6 grams

No more solute will dissolve at a specific temperature. All of the solvent particles are already attracted to as many solute particles as they can be. We can still cannot dissolve any more solute to the solvent. If we add more it settles on the bottom and does not dissolve Example: We can have dissolve 10 grams of sugar in 100 grams of water and we add exactly 10 grams. Saturated Solution

SuperSaturated Solution When a single crystal is added to the solution, it grows until the whole solution becomes a solid.
