#6 TOC Science Project Tuesday – decide on project and write hypothesis Wednesday & Thursday – work days Friday - Presentations

Simple Science Project Working alone or with a partner, select one of the five provided questions to answer through scientific experimentation. After your question is approved by your teacher, write a hypothesis (a prediction) about this question. Option 01: Question-Does rotation affect athletic performance? (If a student spins around a certain number of times will this affect their accuracy or precision with throwing, catching, or kicking a ball?) Option 02: Question-Which gender has greater muscular endurance? (In timed trials, the length of time that male and female students can do a “wall-sit” exercise will be measured.) Option 03: Question-Which kind of paper results in greater flight distance with paper airplanes? (After constructing identical paper airplanes out of three different types of paper, students will measure the glide distance for each plane when thrown.) Option 04: Question-Does temperature in a liquid affect how quickly a substance dissolves? (Using water at three different temperatures, students will measure the amount of time it takes for either sugar or salt to dissolve in the water.) After getting your question and hypothesis approved by the teacher, start developing a detailed plan (step by step) about how you will use the scientific method to conduct your experiment(s).
