Kilmainham Jail By Nathan Doyle

Kilmainham Jail Kilmainham Jail is a former Jail that is situated in Kilmainham in Dublin. However, today it is only open for tours. Kilmainham Jail was first built in 1796. Before it was a built a dungeon was standing there but they knocked that down and built and new jail in its place. When it was first built public hangings actually took place in its grounds. Men, women and children were all placed in the same cell, up to 5 people would share the same tiny cell. With only a single candle for light and heat, most of their time was spent in the cold and the dark. The candle had to last the prisoner for one week
