Main Idea The big idea that the author wants to get across. Typically the argument that the writer is posing in persuasive passages.

Point of View/Tone What perspective the story is being told from. How the author is FEELING about a topic. i.e. Positive, Negative, Neutral..

Authors Purpose WHY an author is writing a literary piece. Authors main idea can attribute to it.

Fact/Opinion Facts can be checked in the work to see if they’re “correct. Opinions can not be checked to see if they’re “correct”.
