How many numbers can you remember? By:Xavier Manville Due: Dec. 8, 2014

How many numbers can you remember before you forget in a sequence?

I chose this topic because I have wondered how far people could remember numbers without forgetting. There are people who can remember a lot of numbers and they are adults. How long could a 12 year old remember without forgetting? Could they remember as long as an adult or won’t be able to remember as good or could a child remember better than an adult?

My Hypothesis If I tell them my sequence of numbers then, I think five numbers is when people start to forget.

Independant, Dependant, Constants Independant-Each person(Drew, Noah, Ethan) Dependant-Amount of sequences before the person forgets Constants-Same numbers, all index cards, clipboards, same age

Procedure Make a number sequence that composes digits 0-9. You will make 9 sequences and you will start with a two digit sequence and then make a three and so on until you get a 10 digit sequence. Put a paperclip on each different sequence. Put them in a shoebox for easy transportation. Make a data table. Do the number sequences to three participants. Record your results.

Data Collection Drew- Drew remembered five sequences. Noah- Noah remembered five sequences. Ethan- Ethan remembered six sequences.

Conclusion How many sequences could you remember without forgetting. We had to make index cards and tell them numbers in a sequence and see how far they could remember without forgetting. Drew and Noah remembered five sequences and ethan had six. My hypothesis was supported because I said it would be five and i was right. I learned that average people can remembered up to around five sequences.
