Appeals LOGOS (Reason/Text) ETHOS (Credibility/Writer) Pathos (Values,Belief/Audience)

Arguments of Fact Arguments of fact- Did something happen? Example: JFK assassination conspiracy? Grassy knoll Is something true?

Arguments of Definition What is the nature of something? Example: Is cheerleading a sport? OR Is a fetus a person?

Arguments of Quality What is the quality of the entity? Example: Is Ford better than Chevy? OR Is Obama better than Bush?

Proposal Arguments What action should be taken? Example: What can we do about poverty? OR Should the government support stem cell research?
