Feminist Criticism

It examines: How women are represented in men's texts How women write their own experiences and relationships  How women read about themselves How female characters are portrayed in literature and women's responses to these portrayals

Questions it poses: How are women stereotyped: mothers, femme fatal, virgins, hags, prostitutes ...   How are women's bodies portrayed? What are male protagonist's attitude towards women? What gaps exist in the female character's story? What are the social and historic conditions for women in this period? How do women exercise their power? What are the consequences?
