Bell ringer Answer one of the three questions Write the definition of value. What do values mean to you? Why are values important?

Values -Belief/feelings something is worthwhile. Our values help us make decisions Value System -Enduring organization of beliefs that determines the way we act

Why are values important? They determine decisions you make Your identity/helps you be unique Who you are/ “rules you live by” Help find goals

Characteristics of a value Your choice One of several alternative You will stand up for it Demands action Takes time and thought

How do values affect your lifestyle? Quick recap: Lifestyle is Where you live Who you live with What you do for your career/job How you spend your free time

Positive self concept -Most important factor toward success -When you believe in yourself you gain the respect of your peers -As a leader, to gain the respect of others, you must first be able to prove worthiness to yourself

Bumper Sticker/Name Tag You will be creating a bumper sticker/name tag with your top five values from yesterday. You must express them in pictures, no words besides your name can be written! Be creative, use colors, have fun You will have the rest of the class time to complete this, it is due tomorrow as homework. EXTRA CREDIT- go to www.msperezfacs.weebly.com and download EXTRA CREDIT VALUES worksheet. This will be worth 5 points and is due on Friday.
