Apply critical thinking to inform and communicate professional judgements Ex: Have meeting with parents concerning child’s attendance. Had a meeting with the parents of a student who refused to come to school. On the tenth day a petition will be filed with juvenile court by the school social worker and parents must appear in court.

Prevention and Intervention Use assessment and evaluation results to develop appropriate interventions for students, families, school, and communities Ex: Use student, family, and school assessment results to identify needs that impact student learning Ex: Give Adaptive Behavior Assessment System (ABAS) to students to determine if they need special education classes.

Demonstrate effective oral and written communication Ex: Did an interview with 14 year old student who wanted to be removed from her mother’s home. Presented effective listening skills and did note taking Ex: Talked with student concerning their attendance (reason why they had been missing days) Reported back to supervisor

Oral and written communication Ex: Observed supervisor do intake and referral of student who wanted to be placed out of his home (no lights, water,)
