plop plop fizz fast By:Nate Seelig

my scientific question How big of a difference in the rate of a chemical reaction can temperature make ?

my science fair will test the effect of temperature on the rate of a chemical reaction.

variables independent:water temperature dependent:alka-seltzer tablet controls:amount of water

my hypothesis If i dissolve an alka-seltzer tablet in three different temperatures of water the alka-seltzer will dissolve faster in hot water.

HOT WATER Put 118 ml of water in a cup Heat water in microwave for 1 min Record water temperature Open Alka-Seltzer pack Drop Alka-Seltzer into cup + Start stopwatch at the same time Stop stopwatch when Alka-Seltzer is completely dissolved Record time

ICE WATER Put 118 ml of water in a cup Freeze water in freezer for 3 hours Record water temperature Open Alka-Seltzer packet Drop Alka-Seltzer into cup+Start stopwatch at the same time Stop stopwatch when Alka-Seltzer is completely dissolved Record time

ROOM TEMPERATURE WATER .Put 118 ml of water in a cup 2.Record water temperature 3.Open Alka-Seltzer packet 4.Drop Alka-Seltzer into cup+Start stopwatch at the same time 5.Stop stopwatch when Alka-Seltzer is completely dissolved 6.Record time

Graph

Conclusion the effect of temperature on the rate of a chemical reaction.I am testing what water temperature will dissolve the alka-seltzer tablet the fast. that the hot water dissolves the tablet faster.yes, because they both say the hot water dissolves the tablet faster.I learned that if you put a alka-seltzer tablet in hot water it will dissolve faster.we didn't know which one worked better.I would do it all at the same time.
