Rules of Engagement Fishbowl Discussion

This is not a debate The objective is to Learn from others and their ways of thinking /interpreting the sources/the world around them Listen so that you can build off of each other either take the discussion to a new level or know when a particular conversation has reached its furthest point and offer a new question

Stay on topic You want to ask questions that clarify and further our understanding of the topic (isolated), but you also MUST consider how these truths or fallacies work within our lives, our realities, and our futures (integrated).

Nonverbal signs You don’t need to raise your hand; just pay attention to when people have finished their thoughts and then add Look for people who want to jump into the conversation, but may be timid. Perhaps say “John, it looks like you wanted to add to that point” If people are starting to roll their eyes at you, consider that you’ve been taking too much. Dominating the discussion doesn’t guarantee an A, often times it hurts your participation grade.

Participation Points 20 points 10 for your contribution inside the fishbowl Add/build meaningfully 10 for your Outside Circle Note Format
