Presentation transcript:

Writer’s Workshop Launching– Day 1 Teaching Point: Writers study mentor texts from the genre they are going to use in order to identify key elements of that genre. Active Engagement: We will review the Narrative Poem Checklist to remind ourselves of the elements of a narrative poem. Using the checklist, we will determine whether or not the poems we read contain narrative elements. Independent Practice: Use the Narrative Poem Checklist to determine if the poem you brought in today is a narrative poem. When you finish, turn and talk with your partner to discuss what you found. - Narrative Poem Checklist handout for journals (Students were reminded prior to Day 1 to bring in a narrative poem to paste in their journals – have extra copies of narrative poems for students who forgot)
