4th Grade News Essential Focus Upcoming Events 12/01/16-12/12/16 Essential Focus #9 Be a star Student ELA (O’Brian): *Students are working on identifying the text structures using various texts. The text structures they will be identifying are sequence/chronology, compare/contrast, problem/solution, and cause/effect. -Students will be reading various fiction and nonfiction texts to practice this skill. -*Spelling Test Day 7 Friday December 9th *possessive nouns: aunt’s, aunts’, boy’s, boys’, brother’s, brothers’, families’, family’s, girl’s, girls’, hers, its, man’s, men’s, *root (sub): substitute, submarine, submerge, subtract, subway Math (Tsoufiou/Raga): Students will be finishing our unit on fractions. There will be a tentative test date on Friday. A study guide will go home next week. Social Studies (Ohlemacher): In Social Studies, we’'re moving into the American Revolution section of our History Unit.  We'll be finishing the novel "Sign of the Beaver". Some of the students will be reading the  book Magic Tree House: “Revolutionary War on Wednesday” , while others will be reading "George Washington's Socks".
