Activity-based Collaborative Learning Atul Srivastava

Hypothesis Hands-on activity coupled with collaborative learning influences student achievement in mathematics.

Procedure Students were taught about Tangents and normal to it through traditional chalk & talk method. A test was conducted. They were taught the same topic through hands-on activity. Students were asked to sit in groups and discuss the topic. Later, each student answered a mirror test. The pre & post tests data was analysed.

Observation It was found that :- students were more confident and very active. they were interacting with each other very well and were able to answer the questions. learning & grasping power of the students can be increased in comparison to traditional way of teaching and learning. every student has clear understanding of the topic. students found the sessions to be interesting. each student participated with greater involvement and interest. every student was energetic and enthusiastic. phobia of Math which is a common problem with many students, can be overcome. lack of concentration can be washed away with interest and enjoyment of solving mathematical problems.
