Census A count or measure of an entire population US Census Taken Every Ten Years…

Sampling Sampling Error The difference between the results of a sample and those of a population.

Random Sample A sample in which every member of the population has an equal chance being selected

Simple Random Sample A sample in which every possible sample of the same size has the same chance of being selected. 1001!

Stratified Sample Splitting a sample into groups and randomly selecting a member from each group

Cluster Sample Divide a population into groups and select all of the members in one or more of the groups Zone 1 Zone 3 Zone 2 Zone 4

Systematic Sample Designing a method to pick out a sample (i.e. choosing every third person on a list)

Convenience Sample Not a Good Idea Only sampling those available from the population Not a Good Idea
