Contrition Confession A Penance Absolution ______________________ is a prayer or a kind act we do to make up for our sins. ______________________ is being sorry for our sins and promising not to sin again. ______________________ is God’s forgiveness or our sins by the priest in the Sacrament of Penance. ______________________ is telling our sins to the priest in the Sacrament of Penance.

YES NO We ask for God’s forgiveness in the Sacrament of Penance. The parish priest is always willing to help us. The priest cannot tell anyone the sins we confess. Jesus wants us to forgive others sometimes always. Contrition, confession, a penance, and absolution are sometimes always part of the Sacrament of Penance. In the Sacrament of Penance, the priest sometimes always forgives us in the name of Jesus. Jesus wants us to be peacemakers wherever we are, whenever we can, and in whatever we do. What do you not need to ask God’s forgiveness for? Being rude Being selfish Being happy Being unkind YES NO YES NO YES NO

What are you telling God when you do the penance the priest gives you? Put the following events in order of what happens when you celebrate the Sacrament of Penance. ______You and the priest say hello and make the sign of the cross. ______You pray the Act of Contrition. ______You confess your sins to the priest. ______The priest talks to you about what you can do to make the right choices, and gives you a penance. ______You receive absolution, or forgiveness from your sins. ______The priest says, “ Go in peace.”
