ASSURANCE OF SALVATION – I John 5:9-13; Romans 8:1-2 God is raising an army of assured saints!

KEY THOUGHT Some think they are saved, others hope, but only a few know they are saved. Assurance of salvation is to know that you have been forgiven, that you have made peace with God. The believer’s assurance is based on the Spirit’s witness, God’s Word and a transformed life. A settled hope is necessary for growth, consistent walk with God and usefulness in His kingdom!

THE PROFIT OF ASSURED SALVATION What are the benefits of assurance? Peace of mind and joy: Rom 5:1,2 Foundation for personal growth: Heb 6:1-3; 2 Peter 1:5-8 Effective witnessing: Acts 4:18-20 Weapon against Satan: Eph 6:16,17 The assured believer is not confused in the time of trouble. He grows steadily, walks steadfastly and fights against the devil confidently!

THE POWER OF AUTHENTIC SALVATION Salvation brings transformation to the repentant soul. It produces: freedom from sin: I John 3:19 love for God and His Word: I John 2:3 righteousness, honesty and humility: Col 3:7-9 love and fellowship with believers: Ps 119:16 affection for heavenly things: Col 3:2 Salvation distinguishes a sinner from a Christian. Are you saved?

THE PILLARS OF ANCHORED SALVATION On what is our assurance based? The promise of God: 1 John 5:11-13 Obedience to the gospel: 1 John 1:9 The witness of the Spirit: Rom 8:16 Evidence of grace: Acts 11:19-26 Salvation is based on God’s promise: If you do your part, God will do His. Everyone who obeys the gospel will get a predictable result, which is forgiveness of sin and cleansing!
