Station 2: Introduction to Homeostasis

Directions: As a group, go through the following powerpoint. Follow all directions given on each individual slide. If you finish before the 12 minutes, as a group summarize what you learned in this station. Remember you only have 12 minutes. Self pacing is key!!

Video: What is homeostasis? Directions: 1. Read over the video questions (45 sec) 2. Silently watch the video and jot down notes for each of the questions. 3. Using your 6 inch voices, discuss the questions with your group. (3 min.) http://www.brainpop.com/health/bodysystem s/homeostasis/

Video Questions Directions: Discuss and answer the following questions with your group members. Write all answers on your handout. 1. Based on information from the video, create your own definition for homeostasis. 2. Name one organ system mentioned in the video and explain how it functions to maintain homeostasis. 3. Based on evidence from the video, is homeostasis necessary in order for a cell to survive? Justify your answer.
