Last Week: God takes us as we are (right this second).

Luke 19:1-10

When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” Luke 19:5-7

In my mind, I was fine.

When you miss the obvious fact that the sin in your life and in the world has a major impact on you...

in the world and our lives. The effects of sin in the world and our lives. We stumble and fall.

Center for Action and Contemplation We must stumble and fall, I am sorry to say. We must be out of the driver’s seat for a while, or we will never learn how to give up control to the Real Guide. It is the necessary pattern. Until we are led to the limits of our present game plan and find it to be insufficient, we will not search out or find our real Source. When the world breaks us...

Surviving the Crises of Faith

The Discipleship Journey Sooner or later, some event, person, death, idea, or relationship will enter your life with which you simply cannot cope using your present skill set, acquired knowledge, or willpower. Spiritually speaking, you will be led to the edge of your own private resources. Richard Rohr Center for Action and Contemplation

Surviving the Crises of Faith Stay

The Discipleship Journey *The biggest tests of faith typically happen in the middle of our journey when a crisis hits. Tragedy, disappointment, boredom, burnout, doubt, or an old pattern of sin strikes us and we find it hard to stick with it. Avoid the temptation to drop out. Simply show up. Why? God will meet you in your doubts and frustrations and bring you to a new level of faith.

You must “lose” at something, this is the only way that God can get you to change, let go of your egocentric preoccupations, and go on the further and larger journey. Richard Rohr

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:8-10
