10 Things to know about Canker Sores and how to differentiate them A Guideline to understand and distinguish Canker Sores Experiencing painful sores when chewing food or drinking fluids can be an annoyance, often it’s just a harmless sore, but under rare circumstances, it can also be a signal for an early symptom of oral cancer, thus it is necessary to understand & differentiate Canker Sores and avoid needless tension:

1.Canker sores are painful lesions which appear within the mouth and produce a burning or tingling sensation before emerging. 2.Canker sores are small and shallow lesions having a round shape, with a white or grey body and a red outline. 3.Canker sores aren’t Cold sores which are caused due to a contagious viral infection, it (Canker sores) always appear within the mouth and its blisters aren’t fluid- filled. 4.Canker sores are just one of the many types of lesions that sometimes manifest within the mouth, thus it is necessary to understand and differentiate it from the rest, to avoid unnecessary panic.

5.Canker Sores can emerge due to multiple reasons, these may vary from simple reasons such as stress, injury, dental complications or diet type to complex one's such vitamin deficiency, lack of proper nutrition, weakened immune system, impaired gastrointestinal tract or an affliction from a disease like Crohn’s or Celiac. 6.People suffering from Canker sores may sometimes experience physical exhaustion, fever or develop a swollen lymph node. 7.Simple Canker sores may appear twice or thrice a year while lasting for about a week however in some severe cases they may last longer, such instances are rare and often only manifest on people who have had them before.

8.Canker sores can’t be permanently cured; however, its recurrence can be reduced by following proper oral care procedures after every meal, avoiding a diet high in acidic or spice content, and abstaining from chewing gum. 9.Canker sores are harmless in most cases; however, it is vital to seek dental advice from an expert when lesions are unusually large, start spreading or last for more than 3 weeks. 10.Canker sores tend to heal without medication or treatment within a few weeks from its date of manifestation, but if it doesn’t and the pain becomes intolerable while food difficult to consume, just book an appoint at S.R Dental Implant Clinic, our state-of-art laser dentistry can provide you relief, as it doesn’t involve anaesthesia or painful surgical procedures, having minimal blood loss and quicker healing.S.R Dental Implant Clinic
