Homozygous & Heterozygous Notes

What ‘homozygous’ mean? Homo= same A genotype (letter coding) that is homozygous means that it has two identical alleles. Either both parents give a dominant allele or both give a recessive allele. Examples: AA, bb, CC, dd What ‘homozygous’ mean?

What ‘heterozygous’ mean? Hetero= different A genotype (letter coding) that is heterozygous means that it has two different alleles. One parent will give a dominant allele and the other will give a recessive allele Examples: Ee, Ff, Gg, Hh, Jj What ‘heterozygous’ mean?

Homozygous or Heterozygous? Dominant or Recessive? BB Hh dd NN LL ff Aa Tt cc Jj Homozygous Dominant Heterozygous Homozygous Recessive Homozygous Dominant Homozygous Recessive Homozygous Dominant Heterozygous Heterozygous Homozygous Recessive Heterozygous

Processing Questions: WRITE THE QUESTION. Give an example of a Homozygous allele. Give an example of a Heterozygous allele. Complete the following Punnett Square % Homozygous? ___ % Heterozygous? ___ B b b b
