MAFS.1.OA.1.2- Monday MAFS.1.OA.2.3 - embedded MAFS.1.OA.1.2 (DOK 2) Solve word problems that call for addition of three whole numbers whose sum is less than or equal to 20, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem. [Application] Use objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem Know how to add three whole numbers whose sum is less than or equal to 20 Solve word problems that call for addition of three whole numbers whose sum is less than or equal to 20 MAFS.1.OA.2.3 (DOK 2) Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract. Examples: If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.) To add 2 + 6 + 4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so 2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12. (Associative property of addition.) [Conceptual Understanding]

Macariah had 6 red crayons. Kelsie gave her some blue crayons Macariah had 6 red crayons. Kelsie gave her some blue crayons. Wilson gave her 4 white crayons. Macariah had 13 crayons in all. How many crayons were blue? Write an equation and solve. PBL

We do Meeko found 8 chew toys under the bed. He found some more under the couch. 2 more were in the closet. Altogether Meeko had 16 chew toys. How many chew toys were under the couch? Write an equation and solve. D’antaye has 14 leaves. He gave McKenna 4 yellow leaves and Moises 6 orange leaves. How many leaves does he have left?

You do- Write a subtraction equation and then turn it into an addition equation and solve. Jayven had 17 rocks. He threw 2 at a tree. He rolled 5 down a hill. How many did he have left?
