The Design Process
Can be Encapsulated in this diagram
Design Portfolio the design portfolio is essentially a diary of the project progress and contains all relevant information, especially trial and error information
Defining the problem Includes stating or creating the problem statement, design objectives and related criteria while identifying design constraints
Generating Options Develop alternative solutions and concepts while staying within the constraints of the project (time, funds, resources, etc)
Selecting the best options Alternative solutions should be evaluated in terms of design objectives and the best alternative selected
Developing the solution Develop a production plan for prototype fabrication, which will include detail and assembly drawings for the prototype
Prototyping and Testing The design prototype is fabricated at this point so that testing of the design prototype can take place.
Evaluation and Redesign The prototype is evaluated in terms of design objectives and testing. Required design modifications resulting from the evaluation should take place here
