Author’s Purpose Main idea questions will ask about author’s purpose or author’s attitude Nonfiction is straightforward and informational

Questions to ask: Informational Passages What does author want me to know about this? Why is it important I know this? What does author want me to do with this knowledge?

Questions: Literary Passages These are trickier! Why does story take place where it does? When it does? Why does the main character do that they do?
