DO YOU KNOW WHERE THIS IS????

SOCOTRA ISLAND This is a small archipelago (chain of islands) made up of 4 islands in the Indian Ocean. It is located east of the Horn of Africa and south of the Arabian Peninsula. It is a part of the Republic of Yemen The main island is called Socotra and the 3 smaller islands are named: Abd al Kuri, Samhan and Darsa

PLANTS Since Socotra is one of the most isolated places in the world, it is not a surprise that 1/3 of the plant life cannot be found anywhere else on the planet! The most striking plant is called the “Dragons Blood Tree”. In the past it was sought after to use as medicine and today it can be used for paints and varnish

FEATURES The archipelago is a total of 80 miles, making it the biggest island in the Middle East Almost 50,000 people live on the main island in the principal city of Hadiboh, while less a few hundred can be found living on the smaller ones All of the people living on Socotra Island follow the religion of Islam and speak the Soqotri language The only mammals that can be found there are bats!! In 2008 it was recognized as a UNESCO (United States National Educational, Scientific Cultural Organization) World Natural Heritage Site Due to the various terrains and the way the winds hit the island, the plant life is truly unique. Socotra island is said to be the most alien looking place on Earth!
