Presentation transcript:

Mrs. Morano’s Pre-K News Week of October 19, 2018 This week’s theme: Ways family members care for each other. ELA Math Our trade book for the week was Oonga Boonga by Frieda Wishinsky. The book centered around a crying baby. In the book various family members and friends tried to get baby Louise to stop crying. Only her big brother Daniel knew the secret! Our vocabulary words for the week were: baby, care, child, grownup, hug and tear. In math we practiced comparing groups of objects. We talked about which group had more, less or the same amount of objects in it. Handwriting Our letter of the week is letter T. We have been practicing writing the letter T as well as thinking of words that start with the /t/ sound Science We began to discuss the life cycle of a pumpkin. We watched a time lapsed video of a farmer who planted pumpkin seeds on his farm. The video showed how the pumpkin grew from a seed, to a plant, to a flowering vine, to a green pumpkin, to a ripe orange pumpkin. We also continued our discussions about why leaves change color in the fall. Social Studies We discussed the common features found at home and in school. For example, both are buildings. They have windows, doors, floors, and furniture. We also discussed some of the differences/ For example, we have a bed at home but not at school. Religion . News & Reminders Please continue to labels all jackets and hats. Thank you!  In Religion we learned that God gave us a Church family. The Church family is made up of people who love Jesus and try to live like Him. We discussed the importance of each member and talked about the special roles of priests, Mary and us.
