HOW TO PERFORM PLASMA UPPER EYELID TIGHTENING www.voltaicplasma.com

INTRODUCTION We will take you through the best way to use our plasma devices for aesthetic uses correctly step by step, providing you with clear video examples that you can take as reference when you carry out these types of aesthetic treatments. We will make a clear the distinction between low, medium and high intensity treatments.

PREFACE One of the most common aesthetic practitioners' initial challenges is that they are not confident carrying out their first plasma eyelid tightening procedures on their own. The preferred technique for upper eyelid tightening is the spot mode or the spot operation. This has been used extensively around the world and is very easy to learn. There are other ways to use plasma for eyelid tightening like the spray operation, but this is not always straightforward to learn. The real results of Plasma Eyelid Tightening are only minor improvements of the upper eyelid area despite the intensity of treatment used.

When you start using plasma for eyelid tightening for the first time you should use low-intensity treatment. There is no clear-cut distinction between low/medium/ high- intensity treatments. A low-intensity treatment can fall into a medium intensity treatment only changing a few parameters of the treatment like duration of the arc and/or distance between the spots. Similarly, a medium intensity treatment can fall into a high-intensity treatment and vice versa too. Even if there is no clear-cut definition of low, medium and high-intensity treatments it is easy to recognize the intensity of the specific treatment by looking at them as they are being performed. The real results of Plasma Eyelid Tightening are only minor improvements of the upper eyelid area despite the intensity of treatment used.

HOW TO CARRY OUT YOUR FIRST PLASMA UPPER EYELID TIGHTENING PROCEDURE The first step for you is to familiarize with the way the plasma devices are used on a "test meat“. Once you have completed the exercises on the "test meat" and you are comfortably able to use the device at a minimum power level, then you can start the use of the device for eyelid tightening for the first time. If you have the BeautyTeck, set the device at minimum power level with three battery configuration. In any case, do not be tempted to use a higher power setting than the lowest one. If you are using devices sold by other companies use their instructions for this procedures. Use only short bursts duration of less than a 1/4 of a second (as seen in the video below) Distance the spots between 3 to 2 mm apart. To can also distance them 4 mm apart is you wish. Cover a relatively small area of the upper eyelid. BeautyTeck Device

MEDIUM INTENSITY Once you have performed your first low-intensity upper eyelid tightening treatments and you have seen the results, then you can move to performing medium intensity treatments. Normally medium intensity treatments are performed by only changing the duration of the arc slightly and reducing the distance between the spots. Also, the area treated will increases slightly. If you are using the BeautyTeck the device setting at level 1 with three battery configuration. The distance between the spots is decreased slightly and ranges between 1 to 2 mm between the spots . The duration of each spot is in the region of 1/4 to 1/2 of a second.

HIGH INTENSITY TREATMENTS After witnessing the results of low and medium intensity treatments there may be the temptation of performing high-intensity treatments in order to achieve far better results. Please remember that the results of plasma eyelid tightening cannot be rushed and the improvements achieved due to the treatments cannot overcome what it is realistically possible due to the physics of the treatment itself. The problem with high-intensity treatments is that while the results may be marginally better than low and medium intensity treatments the immediate reactions and increased likelihood of potential longer-term adverse reactions can discourage people from undergoing further plasma tightening treatments.

Additionally, it has become clear that high-intensity treatments do not bring significant improvements compared to medium intensity treatments. In other words, high-intensity treatments do not bring about proportional improvements to the tightening sought by the clients. In terms of results, high- intensity treatments only bring about a minor long- term improvement compared with the long-term results of medium intensity treatments. The immediate transient adverse effects of high- intensity treatments are: Major swelling which is inevitable after high- intensity treatments even using appropriate soothing products. Soothing products can sometimes alleviate the severe swelling. Pain following the first 24 hours after the treatment. This does not mean that low medium intensity treatments do not lead to the same short-term swelling and pain, however, they are far more moderate than what occurs in high-intensity treatments.

Unfortunately, it is not true that adverse effects cannot occur after these procedures. The treatment itself consists in inducing a controlled burn of the upper and lower eyelids, therefore, depending on the way the burn has been carried out and the particular type of skin, the likelihood of adverse effects differ. As a general rule of thumb the higher the overall intensity of the treatment the higher the likelihood of adverse effects occurring after upper eyelid tightening. We have carried out thousands of high-intensity treatments over the years without major adverse reactions. However, although rare, the few adverse reactions reported over time have only followed high-intensity treatments. One of the main problems with high-intensity treatments is that the swelling and pain are the most intense after these types of treatments and this alone may dissuade people from undergoing further treatments despite the results. Rarely high-intensity treatments can lead to some of the medium-term adverse effects: Prolonged period of redness (also referred to long-term healing), this can last up to 6 to 8 weeks after the treatment. Long term laxity lasting up to 3 months after the high-intensity treatment. This has been reported to occur after high-intensity treatments and it takes place during the long- term healing it is transient however in some rare cases it can last for several months. It is as if the area gets worse in the long terms instead of getting better. In most cases, this is coupled with long periods of inflammations.

These adverse reactions have not been reported after medium/ low-intensity treatments. Therefore high- intensity treatments should always be avoided in a commercial environment. Please note that the main cause for people to be discouraged from undergoing further treatments has been the severe swelling and pain following the treatment, the long-term healing and laxity are very rare occurrences. Please remember that despite the amazing expectations and promises made by different manufacturers these types of treatments have their inherent limitations due to the skin physiology and the inherent physics of treatment itself. Plasma treatments cannot shorten the skin because electrical plasma simply does not cut the skin. Some manufacturers bring forward the immediate canonization (therefore deep dehydration) to show that the "there is immediate shortening of the skin", however, please note that the immediate skin contraction of the area after the carbonization (also referred to as sublimation for marketing purposes) is only transient because the dehydration will be over as soon as the swelling takes place.

CONCLUSIONS After examining the effects of most high-intensity treatments using voltaic plasma with different devices we have come to the conclusion that performing high- intensity treatments are more disadvantageous than advantageous. This is because the minor added tightening are overshadowed by the increased pain and swelling, also the likelihood of potential adverse reactions is higher. The intense swelling and pain after high-intensity treatments are sufficient to discourage people from undergoing further necessary eyelid tightening treatments to achieve the desired effects. High-intensity treatment, on rare occasions, has led to long-term inflammation of the area lasting up to 3 months and laxity. Laxity is the opposite of tightening and its likelihood from occurring can be minimized by only performing low/medium intensity treatments. Laxity can be corrected by further eyelid tightening treatments. The most common adverse reaction is hyper-pigmentation, however, this is never due to the way the treatment is carried out. It is only to do with the early exposure to UV radiations.
